So, I should probably begin by apologizing for my lack of a post last week. I was in Seattle for a conference, hanging with old friends, and the time just was not there. Instead, I sent a text to Trent with my picks, a la:
So, to update the Whiskey Cup standings, for the last two weeks, here’s where we’re at:
Trent the past two weeks: 4-1, 5-3
Nate the past two weeks: 4-1, 6-2
Trent overall: 49-29 (.628)
Nate overall: 53-25 (.679)
No. 11 BYU 34, UCF 31. UCF is favored here and I can see why: after an emotional final-seconds win against OSU, the Cougs might stumble a bit on their long trip to Orlando.
Oklahoma State 37, Baylor 33. OSU figured something out last week, and damn nearly had the game in the bag after an incredible 9-minute fourth quarter drive. Was a shame to lose Rangel, too, after he showed out so well in the first half. In any case: good to see the Pokes pick themselves off the mat for a change.
Texas Tech 31, TCU 35. Ah, the Battle for the Saddle. Tech got housed by Baylor last week. TCU, after losing to Houston, got a win against Utah. This league makes no sense.
West Virginia 27, Arizona 20. This is the first meeting between these two.
Utah 20, Houston 6. Who knew after the big time matchup of OSU-Utah in Week 3 that a little over a month later, the Utes would be sitting at 1-3 in conference play, while OSU would be 0-4?
Kansas 17, Kansas State 42. Why are we doing this game in early November?
Cincinnati 31, Colorado 37. I foresee a hard-fought game that CU might very well lose, but it always helps to be used to mile-high atmosphere and the late-night time slot.
