I’m picking the road team in three games this week. Living dangerously!
Last week: 4-1 (.800)
Overall: 37-10 (.787)
No. 3 Oklahoma 63, Kansas 27. Fun fact: Kansas beat Oklahoma the first eight times these two teams faced off. This will be their 112th meeting.
Kansas State 34, Texas Tech 28. The line for this game is dead even. Tech already has five wins, but if the Red Raiders lose this Saturday they may have just as much trouble as K-State (3-3) in reaching bowl eligibility—their remaining schedule is OU, ISU, OSU, and Baylor. K-State has a slightly easier path with games against KU, WVU, and TCU remaining.
No. 8 Oklahoma State 27, Iowa State 23. Very strange: the entire country seems to think Iowa State will make short work of OSU this weekend, one supposes for the very logical reason that while both these teams boast stout defenses, Iowa State has Brock Purdy, whereas the Pokes have Spencer Sanders. The decisive difference to me is that OSU has displayed a mental toughness this season that Iowa State has not, the ultimate difference between being 6-0 and 4-2. I think OSU’s defensive line gets under Purdy’s skin here.
West Virginia 31, TCU 37. The Gary Patterson Grievance Tour 2021 continues as the Mountaineers and Frogs do battle for the Who Gives a Shit Trophy this week. West Virginia has dropped three in a row. TCU has lost three of four.
