Felt pretty good about my last week of posts: I had BYU winning by one point and by-God, or by Joseph Smith, or the Angel Moroni or what-have-you, the Couglets did win by a grand total of one fucking point, against their arch rivals the Utah Utes Whiners. Utah’s AD proceeded to embarrass himself afterwards, as you’ve probably seen. I hate to quote a phrase used by irritating people all over this country, but . . . if you hate it here so much, why not go back where you came from?
Anyway. Thank God the Pokes have a bye—OU unfortunately does as well—at least this way those of us in so-called God’s Country can spend an entire Saturday enjoying some football for once.
Last week: 4-2 (.666)
Overall: 65-31 (.677)

I did not have time to write this post before Houston-Arizona, so I tweeted in favor of Houston to the tune of 34-27. I will happily say that I nailed the amount of points the Wildcats were going to score exactly, but unhappily mention that I missed Houston’s amount by +31. For the sake of continuity, I’m just going to write it out thus so:
Houston 34, Arizona 27. See the above paragraph.
Saturday
Utah 30, No. 17 Colorado 34. This, believe it or not, is the 71st meeting between these two schools: they met 58 times before their days as Pac-12 brethren, playing nearly every year between 1903-1962.
Baylor 31, West Virginia 24. The Bears have quietly gone on a three game win streak after losing three in-a-row. Both teams need one more for bowl eligiblity.
Arizona State 30, Kansas State 42. After totally shitting the bed last week against Houston, I expect K-State to come out lean, mean, and looking like a Sun Devil-eating machine—then perhaps to soften up a bit against this salty ASU squad in the second half.
Cincinnati 27, Iowa State 35. I predicted ISU would drop the ball last week against KU and they did. I have the same feeling this week, but can’t bring myself to say the Cyclones will lose a third game in a row.
Kansas 38, No. 6 BYU 41. Prognosticators for this game feel grim enough to only favor No. 6-ranked BYU by only 2.5 at home against 3-6 Kansas. I tend to agree. That’s why I’m leaning toward the upset—but to ultimately say the Wasatch Kids end up squeaking one out here.
